Saturday 28 March: A national thanksgiving prayer service planned for tomorrow to coincide with the end of the cyclone season will now be handed over to all the local churches and denominations.
This is because of the unavailability of the National Auditorium which is being set up for the Miss Cook Islands Pageant next week.
Religious Advisory Council president Pastor Tutai Pere says they are requesting each and every pastor and church group to include in their programmes special prayers of thanksgiving to God for His protection and divine covering upon us throughout the cyclone season.
Pastor Pere says the theme is ‘Thank you Jesus – meitaki maata e Iesu’ and the chosen text is from Mathew 8:27: ‘Eaa ua te tu o teianei tangata, i akarongo ei te kare e te matangi iaia. What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him.’
Otherwise, he says, pastors can choose and speak on their own themes and scriptures.
“Let us all be united at lifting our hearts and souls to our God with gratitude and thanksgiving for His grace and tender mercy upon us all. Have a blessed thanksgiving prayer service this Sunday.” - Moana Moeka’a
