Ambrose will help fund urban studies trip

Thursday 2: Spaces for the Tereora College golf Ambrose fundraiser this Friday at the Rarotonga Golf Club in Nikao are filling up fast with over 20 teams registered so far.

Tereora College’s year 12 and 13 geography class is fundraising for a trip to New Zealand.

Class teacher Mona Herman says that the trip to New Zealand in June is all part of her students’ urban settlements studies and will include visiting Auckland, Hamilton, Tokoroa and Rotorua by bus.

With just over 20 teams signed up for the Ambrose, the fundraiser is looking to be a battle of the schools with a number of school teams registered.

More teams can still register for the golf Ambrose with the first tee off scheduled for 1.30pm. Friday is also the last day of the school term and with some schools closing early this is a chance for teachers and parents to relax, have a round of golf and help with the education of the 21 Tereora College students.

Apart from the golf, there will be food stalls set up at the Nikao club selling scrumptious food for hungry golfers.

The class will also have a food stall set up at the National Auditorium on Friday night to feed the hungry crowd heading there to watch the Miss Cook Islands Pageant.Businesses and individuals wanting to contribute cash donations for the geography trip or foodstuffs for the stalls or teams wanting to take part in the fun fundraiser can do so by contacting Mona Herman at Tereora College on 23819.

Registration for teams of six golfers is $120 or $20 per player. - Matariki Wilson
