Athletics Cook Islands president Simone Fe’ao said that on Sunday June 2, the Oceania Congress meeting was held for the 22-member federation countries.
At the meeting, the Cook Islands was announced as the next hosts of the Annual Oceania Congress in May 2025.
“This is a great opportunity for our country to host our fellow Pacific countries.”
Fe’ao said the Cook Islands would expect at least 100 international delegates for a weeklong event including the annual congress meeting, athlete training workshops, coach and officials’ development, athletic displays and competition.
She added that as part of this meeting, the congress also supported the proposed amendment to the Constitution for gender equality which allows for equal representation of genders on the Oceania Athletics Council at the next election in 2027.
